Managing Content – Research Outputs
IRIS offers enhanced functionality for managing your research outputs(RO). The following features are available to streamline your workflow and ensure accurate representation of your contributions.
Managing Central-harvesting ROs
Academic staff who have entered a Scopus Author ID in their IRIS user account will have their ROs, which are indexed in Scopus, regularly harvested to the IRIS Backend.
The harvested ROs will be automatically assigned to the corresponding Managing Organisational Unit for follow-up first. The assignment of corresponding Unit follows the rules of the first CUHK author’s first affiliation listed in the RO.
These records have not yet been validated or made publicly available. Once you, your trusted user, or Department Admin have checked the data and entered the necessary information, such as “Pedagogical Research”, you can submit the record for validation.
To retrieve the harvested ROs, you need to set up some pinned filters on your IRIS Backend interface. Please refer to Set Up Pinned Filters for Retrieving Research Outputs Harvested from Scopus to the IRIS Backend (PDF).
Navigation
The ROs added to IRIS will be saved in the IRIS Backend database and displayed on the Public Portal. The Public Portal shows a summarized view; the Backend provides more detailed information and advanced search capabilities. To locate your ROs:
Visibility Setting of RO
By default, the visibility setting of all RO records is “Public”. Therefore, regardless of the workflow status, all RO records are visible in the Backend for all IRIS users, and RO records in the validated status are visible to the public on the Public Portal. You can change the visibility option of your RO records. Please refer to Set Visibility on Each RO (PDF).
Edit RO Records/ Change Request
You can edit RO records regardless of the workflow status. Please note that Department Admins can edit the RO records that are managed by the respective department, while researchers can only edit their associated records. Please refer to Edit RO Records/ Change Request (PDF).
Change your display name associated with a RO on Public Portal
The display name of a RO on the Public Portal varies depending on the source from which it was imported into IRIS. Please refer to Change your display name associated with a RO on Public Portal (PDF).
Check duplications during RO submissions
IRIS automatically identifies potential duplications during creation. If a duplicate is found, you can claim it by following the guide: Check Duplicates During RO Submission (PDF).
Claim a RO record without your name associated with it
When you find you are an author of a RO but it is not currently associated with you, you can request to add your name to that RO as a contributor. Please refer to Claim a RO record without your name associated with it (PDF).
Disclaim a RO record with your name associated with it
When you find you are an author of a RO that is wrongly associated with you, you can remove your name from that RO. Please refer to Disclaim a RO record with your name associated with it (PDF).
Delete a RO
ROs with “Entry in progress” or “For validation” status can be deleted. “Validated” and “For re-validation” ROs require a deletion request. Please refer to Delete a RO (PDF).
